The Texas Backup Power Package Program

The Texas Backup Power Package Program (TBPPP) is providing up to $1.8B in grant funding to help communities keep essential services running during grid outages and emergencies. Eligible facilities include water and wastewater systems, emergency operations centers, assisted living centers, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure.

What Is the Texas Backup Power Package Program?

The Texas Backup Power Package Program (TBPP) helps ensure that essential community services remain operational during power outages. With up to $500 per kW available, the program covers the cost of installing and upgrading emergency backup systems — including natural gas, propane, battery storage, and hybrid microgrids.

Funding is limited and competitive, and applications must demonstrate compliance with state requirements.
